F/262 – Galeria no Bairro
A Contemporary Photography Route Through Local Businesses
Galeria no Bairro
About the Project
“Galeria no Bairro” (Gallery in the Neighbourhood) is a collaborative initiative developed by the F/262 – International Photography Festival, Caldas Bairro Comercial, the Municipality of Caldas da Rainha, and the F/SOS Association – Photography, Solidarity and Social Works.
Inspired by the concept of an open-air gallery, the project takes photography beyond traditional exhibition spaces and integrates it into the city’s commercial landscape.
Throughout the route, each participating business hosts a single photograph, inviting residents and visitors alike to discover the artist’s work while exploring Caldas da Rainha’s local shops.
The initiative celebrates artistic creation, supports local businesses, and enhances the urban experience, strengthening the connection between culture, heritage, commerce, and community.

Audio Description – Exhibition Poster
The image shows the poster for the exhibition Humour Photos by Helge Skodvin, presented as part of the F/262 International Photography Festival and the international celebrations marking 200 years of photography.
The poster has a light grey background with bold black typography. Along the top are the F/262 Festival logo, the EFFE Label, and the visual identity of the bicentenary of photography.
Dominating the upper section, the photographer’s name, Helge Skodvin, appears in large black capital letters. To the right is the exhibition title in Portuguese and English, Fotos com Humor / Humour Photos.
The central image is a colour photograph taken indoors. A child sits at a dining table, although only the lower half of the face and the body are visible. The child wears a black hooded sweatshirt printed with two large black-and-white portraits of young boys across the chest.
The table is covered with a bright blue tablecloth decorated with evenly spaced white polka dots. In front of the child sits a white plate holding a single slice of crispbread spread with chocolate topping. To the left of the plate is a clear glass filled with milk, while to the right rests a table knife with its blade facing inward.
The child’s hands rest calmly on either side of the plate, creating a balanced, symmetrical composition. The humorous effect comes from the unexpected combination of the printed faces on the sweatshirt appearing to “join” the child’s own face, creating the illusion of multiple children sitting at the table.
On the right-hand side of the poster appears a list of the participating local businesses hosting the exhibition throughout the town.
The lower section contains the exhibition information, including the dates, 13 July to 23 August 2026, the venue, F/262 – Galeria no Bairro, and the festival website. Along the bottom edge are the logos of the supporting institutions and project partners.
The overall composition combines everyday domestic life with visual wit and playful illusion, inviting viewers to pause, look more carefully, and smile.
Galeria no Bairro presents a selection from Helge Skodvin's Humour Photos series, bringing together images that reflect his keen eye for the absurd, the ironic, and the fleeting moments that transform everyday life into something unexpected.
Helge Skodvin (Bergen, Norway) is an internationally acclaimed documentary photographer whose work is distinguished by its subtle, ironic, and deeply human perspective.
He regularly works with magazines, newspapers, publishers, and international commercial clients, while simultaneously developing long-term personal projects.
His photography is characterised by a distinctive visual language in which everyday moments, landscapes, and unexpected situations are transformed into images rich in humour, ambiguity, and quiet poetry.
Skodvin is the author of four photobooks, including 240 Landscapes, which was selected by Martin Parr as one of the best photobooks published in 2015.
Throughout his career, he has been nominated for the Leica Oskar Barnack Award and the Magnum Photography Awards, and has received numerous honours at the Norwegian Picture of the Year Awards.
