Exhibitions 2026 F/262
MOLDAR AS MARGENS / SHAPING SHORES
F/262 brings photography into museums, galleries, schools, streets, gardens, beaches and public spaces across Caldas da Rainha and its surrounding communities. Rooted in the festival’s curatorial theme, “Moldar as Margens / Shaping Shores”, the exhibitions explore territory, memory, identity, environment and social transformation through contemporary photography and visual culture.
Bringing together emerging and established photographers from Portugal and beyond, the programme moves between indoor and outdoor spaces, presenting intimate documentary projects, large-scale installations, experimental works, public interventions and community-driven practices. Across the festival, photography becomes a space for dialogue, encounter and reflection, connecting institutions, unconventional locations and the wider community through diverse artistic perspectives and shared experiences.
JAGOZES - Nuno Rocha
BETWEEN THE SEA AND ENDURANCE
Photographed over a period of eighteen months by Nuno Rocha, Jagozes — Between the Sea and Endurance documents the daily lives, traditions, and working practices of the fishing community of Ericeira, one of Portugal’s most emblematic maritime towns.
Known locally as “Jagozes”, the fishermen of Ericeira have maintained a deep connection to the Atlantic Ocean for generations. Through a documentary approach built on proximity, trust, and long-term observation, the project explores the rhythms of fishing life, the transmission of knowledge between generations, and the enduring relationship between people and the sea.
The series also captures a period of transition within the local fishing fleet, marked by the gradual replacement of traditional wooden boats with aluminium vessels, revealing the social, cultural, and economic changes affecting contemporary coastal communities.
Presented as an outdoor exhibition along Avenida do Mar in Foz do Arelho, the project creates a dialogue between two communities shaped by the Atlantic Ocean, inviting visitors to reflect on memory, identity, heritage, and continuity.

Marking 200 years of photography, Luz Permanente / Permanent Light presents a visual journey through some of the most influential photographs ever created, from the earliest daguerreotypes to defining images of the modern world.
Developed in collaboration with the Instituto Português de Fotografia (IPF), the exhibition combines historically significant photographic works with an extensive presentation of photographic technology, including more than 100 historic cameras and photographic objects tracing the evolution of the medium across two centuries.
The exhibition includes works connected to figures such as Nicéphore Niépce, William Henry Fox Talbot, Louis Daguerre, Nadar, Roger Fenton, Julia Margaret Cameron, Eadweard Muybridge, Jacob Riis, Alfred Stieglitz, Lewis Hine, Edward Steichen, Man Ray, Ansel Adams, Dorothea Lange, Robert Capa, Gordon Parks, Yousuf Karsh, Philippe Halsman, Alberto Korda, Malcolm Browne and Neil Armstrong, among many others whose images shaped the history of photography and visual culture.

RAÍZES DE MULHER
SEMENTES DE FUTURO
Integrated into the programme of F/262 – International Photography Festival, Raízes de Mulher — Sementes de Futuro reflects on memory, territory, sustainability, and the role of rural Portuguese women in shaping community life across generations.
Developed by CCDR Centro using historical images . The exhibition brings together visual records connected to agriculture, fishing, salt production, care work, and the transmission of local knowledge and traditions.
Presented within the context of F/262’s curatorial theme, Moldar as Margens / Shaping Shores, the exhibition unfolds across two cultural spaces in Fanadia, near Caldas da Rainha: the Biblioteca Henrique Nunes da Costa and the Museu Etnográfico “As Ceifeiras da Fanadia”.
