DESCRIPTION:Integrada na programação oficial do F/262 – Festival Internacional de Fotografia e nas comemorações dos 200 Anos da Fotografia\, a exposição Pela Fresca Sombra das Árvores de Lisboa\, de Luís Pavão\, apresenta um olhar singular sobre a relação entre a cidade e a natureza\, revelando uma Lisboa onde as árvores assumem um papel central na construção da paisagem e da memória urbana. \nDesenvolvido ao longo de vários anos\, o projeto resulta da observação atenta do património arbóreo lisboeta e da sua presença nos espaços públicos da cidade. Fotografadas maioritariamente em preto e branco e recorrendo a processos fotográficos tradicionais\, as imagens conduzem o visitante por ruas\, jardins\, praças e alamedas transformados pela imponência\, escala e vitalidade das árvores que os habitam. \nMais do que elementos decorativos\, as árvores surgem como protagonistas da vida urbana\, criando espaços de encontro\, abrigo e contemplação\, enquanto contribuem para a identidade ambiental e cultural de Lisboa. In Giants of Nature\, Brazilian photographer Anderson Nielsen reveals an invisible universe through extraordinary macro photographs\, transforming insects and other tiny organisms into monumental subjects of remarkable beauty and precision. Enlarged far beyond their natural scale\, these images expose intricate textures\, structures and patterns that normally escape the human eye. \nConceived specifically for the José Malhoa Museum\, the exhibition establishes a dialogue between contemporary photography and the museum’s permanent collection. DESCRIPTION:As part of the F/262 – International Photography Festival\, ESTIAGEM (Drought) by Portuguese photographer João Mariano explores one of the defining environmental challenges of our time: water scarcity and the growing impact of climate change. \nDeveloped between 2022 and 2024\, the project documents the dramatic decline of the Bravura Reservoir in southern Portugal. As the water receded\, landscapes\, agricultural structures and traces of past human activity emerged from beneath the surface\, revealing a territory transformed by prolonged drought. More than a documentary record\, ESTIAGEM is a powerful visual narrative where the beauty of the landscape coexists with the unsettling reality of environmental change. \nFor more than two decades\, João Mariano has built a body of work deeply connected to water\, the sea and the communities shaped by it. Projects such as Warriors of the Sea\, Harvesters of the Alvor Lagoon\, Coast of the Sea and Between the Waters have established his distinctive photographic language\, combining documentary practice\, artistic vision and an enduring commitment to place. \nPresented within the inaugural edition of F/262\, ESTIAGEM resonates directly with the festival’s curatorial theme\, Water\, exploring its environmental\, cultural and social significance.
